About Registering Your Site at Yahoo!

If your site is commercial, i.e., you sell products or services, Yahoo! now charges $299 for to review and consider your site for inclusion in its searchable database; and a $299 annual fee. If your site is denied, you will be told why and will have a chance to appeal the decision. The Yahoo! commercial site review process is called the "Business Express" service. See below for instructions.

If your site is not commercial (for example, you're submitting a site for a nonprofit organization) you may submit your site information at no cost, however, it may take some time for Yahoo! editors to review it (weeks/months).

http://www.yahoo.com - Yahoo is an online directory. Like the yellow pages telephone book, it categorizes listings. Submissions are reviewed by real people. Notes about Yahoo!:
  1. Submit only your home page URL.
  2. Do not submit your site/URL if any page on your site is incomplete. Yahoo editors will reject your listing.
  3. Do not submit your site/URL more than once.
  4. If your site sells a service or product, it is considered "commercial" and must be listed in a sub-category of Business & Economy, using Yahoo!'s "Business Express" service.
  5. Do not include sales hype in the Description or Title of your site that you enter in Yahoo. (A site name, company name or basic statement about your service/product is appropriate.)
  6. The procedure to submit/register your site is to actually do a search, through Yahoo's categories, for your particular type of product or service. (Do not merely type in a search word and hit "Search".) Start with a main category and drill down to the proper category.

It's a good idea to do such a search anyway and review how your competitors' listings appear, so you get a good idea of you would like viewers to read about your site's listing.

Once you find the appropriate category, look for the link with the words "Submit your site," "Add a site" or "Add URL". It can usually be found at the bottom of the page.
