Wordpix NOTES newsletter for customers and friends.

Lots of blue sky and green grass - and the welcome mat is always out.A Major Move: "Summertime, and the livin' is (supposed to be) easy." But at Wordpix offices in California, we were busy packing, sorting, and organizing for a big move across the Southwest (1,450 miles) to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Somehow, it came together and today we write you from the comfy office in our new home in one of the friendliest neighborhoods in Tulsa. Using today's technological tools and our free lance partners from California to Florida, we continue to provide our creative and technical services to our customers. Contact us today about your project!

The New Goal of Advertising  Remember the old days when you ran an advertisement in the local newspaper or Chamber newsletter and hoped someone would see the ad, then call or stop by your place of business? You advertised to make a sale and to gain a new customer.

It's different now. Today, the goal of most ads is to drive traffic to your website or the website where your business is listed. Directing readers to the Web empowers the ad and delivers more potential business than the old-fashioned ad did. You can deliver more information and a direct sales message through the website. You can also sign up readers for your email list and a host of other future connections. We can help you get the website going. Just contact us today.

OF INTEREST: Create Your Own Book on Wikipedia. We haven't tried this, but Wikipedia.org recently announced it has added book functionality to its English language website. You can select desired pages from the Wikipedia website (sorting and organizing by category or randomly), then click "Show book" to review your book's pages. Once you're satisfied, download or order as a bound book from PediaPress. Further options include sharing your book with others. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Books for more.
AT THE OFFICE: Trust Nothing. A number of drivers in North Dakota found parking tickets on the windshields of their cars at local shopping malls, a hospital, college campus, etc. They followed instructions on the tickets to visit a website for more details and found that by doing so, their computers got hacked. This underlines the need to read carefully, read between the lines, and use common sense. Don't just trust everything you read and don't visit unfamiliar websites. If you do, don't download anything.

SIDEBAR: Experiencing "Information Overload?" Most of us are now "dealing with an 'exoflood' of information," says Reid Goldsborough of the IBPA Independent, newsletter for small independent publishers. Goldsborough says some people over-react to the situation by deleting all email, including messages from trusted colleagues, and starting over. But that's risky in the world of business where one email message could contain vital information. Goldsborough suggests we (1) set aside a specific time daily to handle email; and (2) turn off the email notification sound and don't let ourselves be constantly interrupted and distracted. Learn to focus on the task at hand and let email messages gather and wait for the scheduled email session.
